Workshops

For more information on 2010 workshops contact:
Vicky Agee - ageeindex@aol.com

For this year the workshops will be held in the Summit Room of the church.

You are encouraged to put your name on the waiting list for classes. Many people sign up who find that they have to cancel and if your name is on the waiting list I can contact you. We don’t want to have empty seats in the classroom if you want to join us. I have had as many as 7-10 people who have indicated interest and then not been able to attend for various reasons.

March 17, 2010  Edyta Sitar  "Hand and Machine Applique"

This workshop is based on book Hop to It! Appliqued Blocks and Projects. Look forward to a good time with this accomplished applique quilt artist who also is introducing bees and guilds to the joy of working with paper-pieced two-inch triangle blocks. She will be designing a new block for this class. Kits will be provided for students at an additional cost of $20.00.  You need only bring a sewing machine in good working order which can do a zigzag stitch.

Status: CLASS FULL: waiting list only.

Those of you who want to exchange "friendship triangles" with Edyta are encouraged to bring your triangle blocks to the workshop.  Don't know what I'm talking about see Edyta's newest book Friendship Triangles on display at the workshop table.

There is no supply list because there will be a kit at an additional cost of $20.00.  www.laundrybasketquilts.com

April 21, 2010  Larkin Van Horn "Embellishments a la Carte"

This workshop will encourage you to get creative and move "outside the box" to add that extra zing to your quilts. Whether for wall hangings or wearables, embellishments can add color, texture and dimension to your fabric art.  Some of the techniques we will explore include:  fabric collage and manipulation; wrapped, twisted and covered cords; faced shapes; couched fibers; water soluble stabilizers; beads and found objects.  The class focuses on technique sampling, rather than the production of a finished project.

Kit Fee:  $20, kit includes a variety of oddball objects to play with. Registration opens for members in February.
