I've learned a new method for making this skyrocket block that is incredibly simple and accurate and I'm very excited to share it with you. It's also exciting to see the variations you can do using the technique.
This quilt consists of nine Skyrocket blocks, each done with a single background fabric. I chose my fabrics in the following manner:
A dark, medium and light print for the stars. The dark forms the "rockets," the medium is the squares, and the light is the triangular star points in the center of each block. Although I used multiple fabrics in my quilt, you can make yours with just 3 fabrics. Then all the blocks would be the same. I also used the same light fabric for all the blocks.

Fabric Requirements
1 1/2 yards background
3" x 40" strip of dark for each block (you'll need 9 for the whole quilt)
3" x 15" strip of medium for each block (you'll need 9 for the whole quilt)
1/2 yard light for the small center stars
3/4 yard for outer border

You'll also need sewing machine, thread, rotary cutting stuff, scissors.
There is a $.50 supply fee for pre-printed foundations on freezer paper. (No, we are not doing the traditional foundation paper piecing -- this is something different.)

Pre-class cutting

Bring enough to make 3 blocks -- that's about all we'll have time for in class. (Bring extra fabric just in case of mis-cutting.)
